BETT Show 2019

Next week I will be visiting BETT Show 2019. It's an amazing event where you can meet professionals from around the world and learn about innovations in education. Apart from the large number of stands, you can also attend workshops and talks. Follow me next week on Twitter @keep_curious_ and on Instagram @keep_them_curious to find out what's on.

Levitating flame

Levitating flame is one of my favourite experiments to demonstrate convection and conduction. It's extremely easy to set up and it's also a great addition to open evenings.

Tests for cations and anions

I recently created a set of matching cards for a student who was struggling with answering exam questions on tests for anions and cations (click here to download). I´m also going to use them during revision lessons with GCSE students.

Brilliant display materials

If you are looking for new display materials,  make sure to visit Compound Interest website. Here you can find phenomenal graphics which can be used to decorate your classroom. Another use of these is directly in your lessons, e.g. as revision materials. The range is superb and can be used easily with KS3 all the way to KS5 students. Below are some examples.

DNA Model

Are you looking for a New Year project to do with your students? A few years ago a colleague emailed me an article showing how to model the DNA double helix using bottles and cans (click here). It took me a few weeks to get the materials but it was totally worth it. The students participating in the project had a lot of fun and at the end were DNA experts.
